Autumn

Autumn was found just in time by a Living With Harmony volunteer.

She was about to step into the street and could have easily been hit by a car or raked up with leaves due to her fall colors and her natural instinct to take cover under them.

Far away from home, she is not native to Colorado and will be going into quarantine before sharing housing with another female Box Turtle.

Many turtles have a homing instinct and will spend their lives trying to find a home they are familiar with.  This is one reason why native turtles should never be moved from their home area.
Loss of habitat due to development and other reasons are threatening the survival of many turtles and tortoises.
