Imagine a Place Where All Beings Are Free and Safe. . .
We can create it!
Colorado wildlife needs more help than ever, as increased development to meet population demands and natural disasters, result in ever fewer wild areas…
The clock is ticking and Living With Harmony is working hard to acquire a Wildlife Sanctuary in or near Boulder, Colorado. If people don’t have a connection with nature, they don’t have a reason to try to save it.
Connecting With Nature Without Harm
Our Wildlife Sanctuary’s Core Principles
The Living With Harmony Wildlife Sanctuary will be built with a deep and meaningful care for natural Colorado landscapes and wildlife.
The Wildlife Sanctuary will be very similar to a nature preserve. We need more wild areas to help replace the wild areas that are lost daily.
Regardless of acreage acquired, Living With Harmony will build out only what is absolutely necessary, much of which will entail the natural world.
We will make all attempts to re-wild areas that have been destroyed by human activities by replanting native grasses, plants and shrubs and nurturing and supporting them until they can survive on their own.
This respect will be reflected in all aspects of our activity and presence.
Colorado’s wilderness needs spaces to thrive—safely & without risk of human encroachment or development. We need natural habitat everywhere, not just in national parks.
Our sanctuary will provide protection from development, loss of habitat, and hunting.
We will plant native plants and shrubs that provide food and cover for wildlife so they can raise their young and set up their homes in a protected area close to their dens and nests.
We believe that in order for people to feel inspired and motivated to protect wildlife and nature, they must experience it.
These experiences will allow witnessing with utmost appreciation for the natural environment.
Once people smell the soil, see the plants and feel the ground, it is easier to understand nature, rather than to feel like it is something that has to be controlled and managed.
Community Education Component:
We believe change to human behavior through education and by example are keys for progress. To this end, we engage the community by advocating and providing information on:
The importance of safe havens for native fauna and wildlife species.
The rewarding and enjoyable benefits of growing some of your own food, composting your own food and yard waste and supporting local farmers and vendors, rather than relying on food that has traveled thousands of miles in plastic packaging.
Assistance in humanely assisting injured or orphaned wildlife so that they may receive the help that they need to mature or recover and have the best chances of thriving in their natural homes.
Addressing blind consumerism and the impacts that it has on our environment. We encourage conscientious consumerism where people are aware where their products are from, how they are packaged, if their are alternatives that are used, local and/or more ethically-sourced and do they help support companies that are doing better things for the planet vs. companies that have questionable practices and packaging. We vote with our dollars for the world that we want and encourage others to do the same.
Participating in or raising awareness about local threats to wildlife and their safety and the loss of their habitat.
Harmony With Nature Component:
With funding to help secure land by preserving habitat for some of our native flora and wildlife species, we will be able to:
Secure land that will serve as a wildlife release site. This land will be suitable for injured wildlife to be released after recovery so that they will have the best chances of survival by having a safe home and habitat to live in.
Help animals to live in peace, free from the threat of development and destruction of their homes.
Help preserve nature and the environment for future generations.
Further our environmental and sustainability awareness efforts on virtual and global scales.
Ahimsa, or reverence for all life, extends into every action that we take. That is why we are visualizing a sanctuary space to educate, inspire, and motivate people to live kinder on the planet and to create a world filled with harmony.
